Spyderco's award-winning Autonomy literally revolutionized automatic knife design. Developed to meet the demanding mission needs of U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmers, it features a number of unique engineering advancements, including an oversized firing button, integral button spring, and a patented kick spring module that allows easy spring replacement without disassembling the knife. All these features complement the knife's highly evolved design and rustproof construction to make it impervious to the elements.
The original Autonomy, designed specifically for carry in a dedicated pouch on a rescue swimmer's vest, featured high-visibility orange G10 scales, but no button safety or clip. To adapt the knife to the needs of the rest of the tactical community, Spyderco modified its design to include a button safety, reversible wire clip, black G10 scales, and a non-reflective black coating on all metal parts.
Based on popular demand, Spyderco is proud to introduce a third version of the Autonomy that walks the line between the first two. Like the original version, it boasts a satin-finished H-1 blade and bright orange handles; however, it also includes a firing button safety and a reversible wire clip to make it suitable for pocket carry. The button passes through both stainless steel handle liners, stabilizing it and increasing the blade's lock strength. The button's spring is also integral to the stainless steel liner, providing increased tension and eliminating any cavities within the handle that could retain water. The knife's open construction allows it to be easily cleaned and dried, making it the ideal tool for waterborne rescue operations. Winner of the prestigious "Most Innovative American Design" award at the 2012 Blade Show and International Cutlery Fair, the Autonomy features orange G-10 scales, a satin finish on the blade and all hardware, and a secondary safety to prevent unintentional operation of the opening button. For service personnel who don't require a tactical black finish on their knives, this version of the Autonomy is truly the best of both worlds.

What are your shipping policies and how fast will my order arrive?
North River Outdoors offers free shipping for purchases of $99 and over within the United States (some oversized items may incur charges). We strive to ship in-stock orders within 24-48 hours, often the same day if placed before 5 PM Eastern Time. Standard free shipping typically arrives via UPS or USPS within 3-6 business days. We currently ship to the USA at this time. You can track your order status by logging into "My Account" on our website.
What is your return and exchange policy?
We offer a 60-day return policy for unopened and unused items, for a 100% refund. Items must be returned in the same (or similar) condition in which they were received. Opened, used, or damaged products, or those not following our return policy, may be subject to a 15% restocking fee. We reserve the right to refuse returns in non-sellable condition. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs.

Do you offer any services like knife sharpening or gear repair?
Yes! We offer a range of services at our Virginia store, including knife sharpening, axe sharpening and rehandling, knife/axe cleaning and conditioning, and waxed canvas bag/pack waxing and conditioning. We also provide laser engraving. Drop-off for services is available Monday-Saturday, with a typical turnaround of 1-2 business days.
