The Reiff Knives F4 Bushcraft Fixed Blade Knife is the ideal outdoor companion. This 4" CPM-3V high-alloy steel blade is 5/32" thick, making it perfect for tackling any survival task. The Reiff Knives F Series

The Blades are constructed from CPM-3V high-impact tool steel, specially formulated to resist breaking and chipping during hard use. A high saber grind with a 20° degree per side convex micro bevel forms a tough but keen edge, capable of handling the finest cutting tasks. The sturdy full tang is skeletonized to reduce the overall weight, making them an ideal carry companion in the field or around town.

The Full-Size Handles are designed for extended use and will naturally accommodate a broad range of hand sizes. The ergonomic contouring of the scales mimics the shape of your hand, reducing fatigue and giving you more cutting power. A sure grip prevents the knife from slipping in your hand, making it safer in survival situations where an injury could cost you your life.

Reiff Knives F4 in 3V

First off, North River got this order to me incredibly fast and so well packaged I had to work to get into it. My first purchase from this seller and very happy I tried them.

As for the knife, I was concerned that the grip might be a bit too large for me, but I liked so many other things about the knife design and what folks were saying about it (and 3V is my favorite knife steel), that I decided to check it out. I also tend to prefer kydex sheaths, which was an option for this knife. Turns out that the grip, while good sized, still fits into my hand well due to the classic coke bottle shape. The knife stayed comfortable throughout my initial testing (various cuts, feathersticking, batoning, etc.). After this I examined the edge with a hand lens and there were no rolls or edge problems on the inner portions of the blade at all (where most of the cutting took place), which has been my experience with 3V. The blade could still shave arm hair easily. I did notice 3 very small apparent rolls of the edge farther out near the curve which I did not expect. I hadn't used this portion of the blade that much. It could be that I cut hard into some quartz sand in my testing without knowing it. I was testing on both split pine logs and some hard beech branches which I had collected off the ground in my yard. I stropped out the rolls in no time, and look forward to further testing. I have given the knife 5 stars as an initial indication that if the steel continues to hold up as it should, this is going to end up one of my favorite knives. I would lower it to 4 otherwise, but since most of the primary cutting edge was flawless and stayed extremely sharp after much testing, I'm guessing the small edge rolls were caused by me unknowingly trying to cut through something that normally cannot be cut.
