This axe is built extremely well and it's obvious a lot of care was put into the product. The head is as solid as you'd expect, the bit was quite sharp on arrival and the balance is terrific. The sheath is also perfectly sized; when it's strapped on there's no room for the head to wiggle and the material is as quality as the axe itself.
Communication from North River Outdoors about a slight delay in shipping was excellent as well.

After felling 3 medium trees and my shin, I can still reliably cut with it. After 8 more of said trees, I finally decided to sharpen it. Aside from the fact that I now have stitches (my fault and I laugh about it) this is now my favorite axe.

It shipped fast and was packed really well. I almost didn’t order an axe because a disproportionate amount of hand tools come through the system busted through the box. North River had that axe tightly wrapped in some kind of thick woven like paper material and filled the voids in the box completely. It’s probably weird to write a review going on about packaging but I’m a delivery driver and hate delivering a busted up box as much as customers hate receiving them. If you’re thinking about getting a Gransfors Bruks there’s plenty of information online about them and they live up to their reputation. If you’re considering going through North River I’d encourage you to do it because they ship fast package well and update you throughout the process

Size wide, the axe is just as big as it needs to be to use with two hand comfortably. It came sharp. The handle is extremely hard and comfortable.

Just a delightful axe that was made with care! The fit and finish and craftmanship make this a family heirloom. Not too heavy ....it's a perfect axe for felling. I appreciate the balance and feel. It is versatile enough to be my go to choice for limbing too.

Jesse was awesome to work with and one of the many reasons I love supporting small businesses. Given the timeline, for my travel itinerary, Jesse went above and beyond to make sure I was able to receive my axe before heading off into the woods. I have no doubt large corporate America wouldn't devote the time, energy (not to mention) text me directly from his personal number to coordinate delivery. Can't say enough for their customer service.

As far as the axe goes, its the perfect length and weight for a backpacking trip. This axe has enough weight and length to get enough torque/momentum into each swing that felling any tree is accomplished with great efficiency. It feels nice in the hand and doesn't burden the overall weight of your pack. Highly recommend it for backing and camping adventures.

Very well made Axe

I have many woodworking tools, but this axe is beyond anything I could ha e imagined. I researched and waited for a long time to buy this axe. My only regret is not buying it earlier.

Bought this axe to help clear our 2.5 acre wooded lot. So far it has been a great tool, perfect for limbo for trees. Customer service was great, they had it shipped out promptly.

Haven’t had a chance to use it yet but the quality appears to be top notch out of the box.

Nice axe. Appears to be well made.

I love it. I've had many an axe, but the bite that this takes along with it's weight means you can limb and fell trees pretty easy. Super light and well balanced. Slightly shorter handle than most felling axes, so it fits in a hiking pack. Would recommend.
