Zero Tolerance Todd Rexford 0808 Flipper 3.25" S35VN Satin Blade, Titanium Handles

The Zero Tolerance 0808 is our latest piece of pocket technology. It's a collaboration between ZT and custom knifemaker Todd Rexford and is based on his Cesium model. But the technology here isn’t circuits and wires. Instead, it’s advanced-formula stainless steel and ZT’s smooth-as-silk KVT opening system.

The 0808’s blade is built of Crucible S35VN stainless steel. This powdered metallurgy steel is extremely fine-grained so it can be sharpened to a razor edge. Added niobium and nitrogen enhance toughness to resist chipping and provide excellent edge retention. Yet it’s also easy to re-sharpen.

Opening is fast and simple with KVT. Caged ball bearings surround the pivot to make the blade quick and easy to open using the built-in flipper. With KVT, the 0808 is as easy to open as any assisted knife, but without the need for a spring.

The 0808’s blade is paired with chamfered titanium handles that provide a solid, and very durable, grip. The sturdy frame lock has a hardened steel lockbar insert to offer extra-secure, extra-solid blade lock up. The reversible pocketclip enables you to carry comfortably left- or right-handed. Move over, iPhone. The 0808 deserves pocket space.

Perfect Every Day Carry

the flipping action on this knife is a little less energetic than other ZT's, but who cares? It will still open without any wrist action, and with wrist action it snaps open like it's spring assisted. A larger flipper would not add enough value functionally to justify hurting the knife's aesthetics. Don't let that one criticism floating around deter you from buying this knife, I think it's a work of art.

The stone washed titanium and stone washed accents on the blade are sick. It hides scratches, fingerprints, and looks great. The uniquely shaped blade and clean overall look make the knife look like it's from outer space. Branding on the knife is classy and understated, although I would get rid of the ZT logo on the pocket clip if I could. The large, polished titanium back spacer is a nice touch, and a really big part of why the knife feels so solid.

The blade detent is perfect, stiff but not difficult to open at all. The blade has no slop in the open or closed positions, and the frame lock works perfectly. I really like that they add the stainless insert, and the back edge of the blade where the lock engages is at a slight angle, so that the lock is actively pushing the blade against the backstop when open.

I haven't put the blade through any abuse yet, so I can't speak to its performance yet. This will be the first S35VN blade I've owned.

In summary, if you have an interest in premium folding knives, and an extra $160, buy this knife and you won't be disappointed.

Another solid ZT

Positives...S35VN, a very good steel, no way to complain here. Blade shape is just sexy. Came razor sharp as all ZTs do. Perfect size, enough blade to use but not so big you "feel" it in the pocket. Flipping action is just outstanding with some nano-oil. Effortless closing, you have to make sure you don't get your finger bit so move it quickly. Also, I love how the pivot only takes one screw to remove, so you only need one T8 to remove.
Negatives...ZT, please send a deep carry pocket clip, nobody wants 1/2" of knife handle sticking out. Also, please take the ZT symbol off of the clip, as much as I love to advertise, I'd rather do it by mouth than the clip. Also, the backspacer is not very pleasing. I'm getting some aftermarket standoffs. (-1 star)

All in all, this is a wonderful addition to my collection and certainly won't be my last ZT. ZTs customer service, build quality, and knifes set a standard for production knifes. Buy one, you won't regret it.
