Protech Knives SBR (Short Bladed Rockeye) is a utilitarian, compact, every-day-carry version of the Les George iconic Rockeye model, retaining the classic design in a smaller package. The SBR has the same American innovations as the Rockeye, featuring modern materials, high tech manufacturing, advanced coil spring mechanism, and quality American production. This version of the SBR has a Black DLC Coated S35VN stainless steel blade, Black Hard Anodized aluminum handles and black hardware.

Blade: The SBR comes with a more EDC friendly, 2.625" blade made of American CPM-S35VN stainless steel. There is plenty of cutting edge for utility work while still retaining the classic full-bellied lines. A nearly half length swedge makes for an exceptionally fine point that gives this slicer some piercing power. The blade is DLC or Diamond-Like Carbon coated for a highly durable and corrosion resistant finish that is also non-reflective and discreet. The blade deploys via a button operated coil spring mechanism that is fast and smooth giving you quick access when the seconds count. The George logo is proudly engraved on the back.
Handle: An ergonomic handle made of Black 6061-T6 Hard Anodized aluminum provides a comfortable in-hand feel in a variety of grips and deploys smoothly from the pocket for use. This is a highly utilitarian folder that is made for use. The button lock mechanism provides reliable lockup and smooth operation. The button along with all other hardware has a matching black coated finish.

CPM S35VN: was designed to offer improved toughness over CPM S30V. It is also easier to machine and polish than CPM S30V. The inclusion of Niobium allows for the formation of niobium carbides along with vanadium and chromium carbides. Substituting niobium carbides for some of the vanadium carbides makes CPM S35VN about 15-20% tougher than CPM S30V without any loss of wear resistance. CPM S35VN’s improved toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping.
