The medium-sized Freshwater Eels, ranging from 10-16 inches in length, are now readily available as live bait. These farm-raised American Eels have a decent thickness, though their size may vary due to gender differences - females are usually longer and thinner while males are shorter and plumper.

• Natural Movement: Live eels have a long, sinuous body that creates a realistic swimming motion in the water. This mimics the movements of a fleeing prey fish, triggering a strong predatory instinct in many species.
• Scent & Flavor: Eels have a strong, fishy smell and a distinctive flavor. This scent trail can attract fish from a distance, and the taste can be irresistible to some predators.
• Toughness and Durability: Compared to other live baits like minnows, eels are sturdier and survive longer on a hook. This allows them to stay active and attractive to fish for an extended period.
• Versatility: Eels can be fished in various depths. You can bottom-fish them for catfish or burrowing species, troll them for larger fish, or suspend them mid-water for pelagic predators.
