No-frills, all business handy tool.

I don't know where this has been all my life, but it's great. The Crunch is a simple, no frills multi-tool. It has all of the things I commonly use (pliers, wire cutters, knife, file and basic screw drivers) with none of the extra stuff I don't, like mini scissors.

The pliers are surprisingly strong, and have an excellent range of opening for a tool of this size, reaching just over 1" diameter. Which is awesome. For the things I usually grab the multi-tool for, this is great. Quick repair on a kid's bike, that one loose nut on the lawn mower, whatever it happens to be.

That said, these are NOT a regular pair of Irwin quality vice grips. They do not have as much rigidity and you can twist them if you work them too hard. This is an acceptable trade off for being able to fold them up neatly and tuck them in a belt holster. Speaking of which, the holster is spacious and the quality of the nylon seems good, but I would prefer a sheath that was custom fit to this tool (like the Gerber it replaced) and not a universal fit sheath. Still, it works fine and I can open and close it one handed from my belt, so no complaint there.

Overall, this is a highly useful tool which is now my standard carry tool, even when at sea on ships.

so far I'm very pleased.

Day one with my new Leatherman Crunch, so far I'm very pleased. I took it to work with me and found a use for it right away. I found it was useful for removing a screw that's head was stripped off. I also used it in my truck when I needed to remove a stubborn bolt. I guess I'm one of those people who discovered how handy vise grips could be in everyday situations. So needless to say, this thing is going in my work bag, and I'm taking it with me everywhere from now on. If there's one thing I don't like about it, is that it's difficult to unfold with one hand. I also think the lanyard ring can get in the way of the other tools if you have it out. However, it's easy to see that this tool is first and foremost a pair of vise grips that stows away into a compact form. All the other tools are not as impressive and appear more like an afterthought. It's still a handy tool to have around, and I can't wait to see what awesome things I can do with it.
