This is a great as a utility hatchet. Note that it is pretty small and lightweight - I'm an "average" size guy and my hand takes up most of the grip if that gives you an perspective. I bought it to use for making some kindling for the fire pit from my stacked wood. Don't expect to use this thing to cut down any branches fast...It's probably a bit small for that task but I do think it will be a good tool to have. I gave it a 4/5 because in my opinion the case could have been designed better. You have to slide the hatched down into it and there seems to be a pretty high risk of cutting your hand in the process. Overall though I'm happy with the purchase and looking forward to using it more!
I bought this as a light-duty hatchet mostly for bushcraft carving. For that purpose, it works as a large-bladed knife and gets the job done. The grip is good, and it has finger indentations to allow me to hold it closer to the blade. Slicing off bark and small sliver-cuts using the center of the blade worked great. This hatchet will come in handy for building emergency shelters and peeling off bark to get to dry wood for a fire. Its not heavy or bulky, this is a great tool to take with you on every trek through the woods.
