Wow, is this thing bright! The flashlight gets 5 stars. The charger failed early and the two Ultrafire batteries that were included do not deliver near their rated capacity. Plan on upgrading to a better charger and get some real batteries and you will be very satisfied with the flashlight!
I like the separate switches for "on" and "brightness level" and appreciate the tail cap switch having the ability to turn on the light without clicking the switch to full on. I have a bunch of other flashlights and this is the one I like the best.
Fenix PD35 is awesome. Less expensive than a Surefire or Streamlight and with more Lumens. Okay, not made in America, but neither are 90% of our daily purchases. (It's called a world economy.)
Great illumination and throw (distance the light travels which allows you to discern what you're seeing at night). It has five illumination settings but I really only use three- lowest, second highest and highest (burst- 850 Lumens). Strobe function is great as well.
My one knock against the light (which is why it gets 4 stars) is I'd like the strobe function to activate via the tail cap push button. That would make it a truly tactical light. As it is, you have to activate the strobe with the side button. Not bad if you're carrying this in your hand, but not good if you have this mounted on a rifle and you need to move your offhand from the rifle to find the side button to activate the strobe. Something to consider.
If you want to mount it to a rifle there is something else to consider. The main body of the light (where the pocket clip is located) is less than one inch in diameter. The tail cap is one inch in diameter. I have a one inch scope ring mounted to the tail cap and that sits on an offset 45 degree mount on my 12 oclock rail (all purchased on Amazon). Least expensive setup and works well. Easy to switch the light from rifle to hand carry whenever necessary.
This is a great EDC (Every Day Carry) light. Very bright, well made, functions flawlessly and is small enough to put in your back pocket and have whenever you need it. I keep this one and the smaller brother (Fenix PD32) in my patrol car and on my nightstand every day.
