ESEE Camp Lore PR-4 Black Oxide

The ESEE Camp-Lore PR4 (Patrick Rollins) is the perfect knife when it comes to doing straightforward wilderness chores and task to survive. The original prototype was made by James Gibson and tested extensively by Patrick during survival classes, off-trail backpacking, hiking and camping. The Rowen built production PR4 features a 4″ blade with a 4.75″ handle, 1/8″ thick 1095 HC steel blade, 90 degree spine for striking a Ferro rod and a leather pouch sheath. It may not be pretty but it is designed to work, like all the other ESEE Knives.

CAMP-LORE PR4 SPECS:

  • Overall Length: 8.90”
  • Blade Overall Length: 4.19”
  • Cutting Edge Length: 4.0”
  • Thickness: .125”
  • Weight (without sheath): 6.3 oz.
  • Steel: 1095 Carbon, 55-57 Rc.
  • Blade Finish: Tumbled Black Oxide
  • Handles: Sculptured Micarta
  • Sheath: Leather Pouch

WARRANTY:

ESEE knives are made with absolute attention to detail using the finest raw materials and care during the manufacturing process. We stand behind our knives with a 100% unconditional lifetime guarantee. If your ESEE knife should ever break, we will repair or replace it. This warranty follows the knife throughout its life, anywhere in the world.

NOTE:

ESEE knives made from high carbon 1095 steel will rust and stain if not properly cared for, especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user’s responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-CLOTH on the blade. Use Lock Tite when assembling any hardware, such as attaching the clip plate to the sheath.

Great knife, tragic scales

I really wanted to love this knife. On paper, the specs are great for an all around field knife. Finally, ESEE gave us a 90 degree spine. Finally, a patina instead of the usual black coating. The problem is that the scales are WAY too thin. Just feels slippery/insecure/dead in the hand. It's a highly textured G-10 handle that feels waxy. Really kills what could have been a great knife. If they had just put their normal canvas micarta handles on instead, in a broomstick shape like their new HM models, THAT would have been fantastic and maybe the best ESEE imaginable. So close, yet so far!

Maybe the best knife I have ever owned!

I have owned many knives, but this one maybe the best I have ever owned. Perfect size for a primary field knife. Light weight, great feel in the hand and well balanced. Razor sharp rite out of the box.
