Rube Wiley built the first known business saloon in Hayden. After changing hands a number of times, it continued to thrive as a saloon and billiards hall and was advertised as a "Favorite Resort for Tourists." This was the only saloon in Hayden until the early prohibition on alcohol in 1908. The saloon building coincidentally happened to be the site of the only shootout in town.
