Tactical Folder

The Vallation surpassed my expectations as being a viable EDC tactical folder. I thought the aluminum handles would have some slippage but there's a very subtle texturing to the metal that enhances the user's grip. Benchmade opted to go against the grain by not doing the whole jimping thing with the blade and handle surface and it works. The ergonomics of the knife fit the hand in just a way where that extra milling isn't needed. The Axis lock pins the mohawk-styled blade in position where there is absolutely no blade play. The assist opening mechanism provides a quick opening without that overkick that a lot of automatic opening knives carry. The assist on the Vallation is a comfortable medium between a smooth opening manual folder and full automatic knife. The one minor drawback is that it's only capable of being carried in the tip-up position (I carry in the waist band) but that's just a minor personal preference.
