Love it!

Definitely has a softer feel to the opening and closing. Doesn’t pop or click open as hard as older traditional slip joints. But they had to have done that on purpose. They make great knives. It has its own feel to it. And I love it. It actually has turned me on to more of the older traditionals that I’ve never been a huge fan of. I’ve seen a few people talk negatively of it’s softness, but being Benchmade’s first slip joint, could be it was meant to appeal to a wider audience. I don’t know. But I know it brought me in to this style of knife.
It’s beautiful and well made. I love the micarta scales. Sharp outta the box.
Fits my Hitch and Timber Pocket Runt 2.0 nicely.

Benchmade took the leap back into time.

The Proper is Benchmades first swing at a Slipjoint. They didn't use a kick as a blade stop so it has an internal pin which is more of a modern approach. The way they rounded the tang causes the blade to be a little sluggish in transition from half stop to closed which makes it less snappy till you get the blade to about 45degrees. It is not a pinned construction so you can have replacement scales made which opens up opportunities for customizing. Overall I think it's a win. If you are a fan of modern folders and are seeking a light, unintimidating carry option its a great option for office carry. A perfect segway into traditional knives. I hope benchmade chooses to make additional models. I might buy the red one too and have custom scales made for it.
