I also dont like the texture of the handle

The picture is kind of deceiving in terms of the size of it in person. I know they give measurements and its my fault for not knowing. I also dont like the texture of the handle, feels kind of cheesy.

Huge improvements over the 585 and the smaller Emissary

I bought this to replace a Benchmade 585 Mini Barrage which apparently jumped out of my pocket. The styling is great, though a lot more aggressive than the Mini Barrage -- took getting used to. seems they have improved the spring action since the 585. The 477 opens with a solid "thump". It's very impressive. The steel is excellent. Furthermore, the new "deep pocket" clip is especially welcomed. It keeps the knife deep in the pocket and so far I've not had any issues with it creeping out and potentially getting lost, which is great considering the price jump from the 585. The Emissary 3.5 also adds a very nice thumb grip on the liners that the 3" version doesn't have, and it really does make a difference. This knife makes a perfect EDC as well as a very functional, rugged, outdoors/camping/utility pocket knife.

Quality knife from a trusted name

I really like this knife. You can't go wrong with a Benchmade and the 477 Emissary is a quality product. The knife has a decent weight to it and has great ergonomics. The picture appears to show some jimping like grooves where the thumb would rest. This is more aesthetic than anything else. The deployment is smooth as butter and surprisingly fast. The AXIS lock is amazing as well. And as far as safeties go, this one is perfectly designed. The only thing I did NOT like about this knife was the chalky feel to the handle. I assume Benchmade chose this material for added grip, but it feels like a chalkboard in your hand. Overall, a great knife!
