Alps Mountaineering Escalade Cot Large

The Escalade Cot is a unique item because it sets up so quickly and easily... and taking it down is just as easy. The fabric and frame are all connected, so there's no assembly required. Basically after you take it out of the included stuff sack, you unfold the cot and it "pops" open... and you're ready for a good night's sleep. Not having end bars to attach also ensures that your head won't ever hit anything besides fabric. When you wake up in the morning, and are ready to pack it up, you simply turn the cot on its side, let it "collapse" and fold it up. It's really that easy! The angled legs on the cot prevent it from rocking back and forth and the center support makes the cot rock solid.

ROCK SOLID. ---Fast simple, easy setup and no crossbar to fight. I didn't even need to read the instructions. When setup the top canvas is flat and tight and does not sag, and the cot does not rock back and forth. I purchased this cot because of the extreme difficulty of setting up my army style cot. It took several frustrating attempts to get the second crossbar hooked over the button on the end of the rail. The only negatives of the ALPS cot are the weight- it's all steel except the legs which are aluminum Also it's a little high at 20 inches and not easy to get out of. It would be better if it were 2 or 3 inches lower. Despite these drawbacks I still give it 5 stars. Even the carry bag is big enough to put the cot into easily (unlike other cot bags which are always too small).
My old army style cot is headed for the trash. It and the bag were designed to torment people.
I wouldn't inflict it on my worst enemy.
