Great Knife. Big.

I like this knife, but it’s a little more than I thought it was going to be. It took me several days of handling it to get over how big it is. It’s hard to scale with a white background, but the knife is 11 inches long, has a blade width of just a little over 1.5 inches and 5.25 inches long, and is a full quarter-inch thick; the blade is a black powder coat that I haven’t been able to test yet, but I’m interested to know how durable it will be over years of use. This thing is heavy. It will cut down small trees and is a little more than I was anticipating. I’m thinking I should have went with the ESEE-4, but won’t be returning it (why return it when I can have both?!). The scabbard is good enough, but I was disappointed with the way the belt clip plate attaches to the main Kydex part - it can only be attached (because of the hole / screw spacing) in such a way that allows the length of the knife/sheath to be put onto a belt vertical; I was hoping to mount the knife horizontal (small of the back), but this is NOT possible and a huge disappointment (seems like a missed opportunity), but all well. If you are looking for a KNIFE that is a manly knife, this is it. It was razor sharp when I got it and so far, after cutting down a tree, has maintained a good edge. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Could not be happier with my choice

I had done quite a bit of research on different knives and decided to go with the ESEE 5. Could not be happier with my choice. I also ordered the full sheath and the survival kit with the altoid can kit. The knife is a beast and my new survival set up is just what I was looking for. I'll be making a back packing trip to the Rockies soon and have a peace of mind that my knife choice will do the job.

THE ONLY KNIFE YOU WILL NEED

I love my ESEE 5. Its the only knife you will need outdoors and can take just about anything you throw at it. I use mine for splitting wood. Don't be afraid to hit it with a sledgehammer to give you better impact. This knife is all you will ever need

Nice Survival Knife!

Nice Survival Knife! Extremely heavy-duty with a thick blade. Great for bigger hands. Perfect for chopping and cutting when I'm out in the woods.
