Gransfors Bruk Double Bit Working Axe 490-2

$395.00

Gransfors Bruk Double Bit Working Axe 490-2

The Gränsfors Double Bit Axe is based on the North American working axes, but has been modified for use in axe throwing. Both edges are identical and the centre of gravity and handle are carefully positioned so that the axe rotates well in flight. The dimensions and design of the axe comply with the rules for axe throwing.

The Double Bit Axe can also be used as a working axe in the forest, although this is rare nowadays. In this case it should be longer, which is why the axe is also available with an 89 cm handle.

As with all of Gransfors products, it is of excellent quality; hand-forged and made using traditional Swedish methods. Each axe head comes individually stamped with the smith's initials, while the hickory handle is boiled in linseed oil and rolled in bees wax for a smooth water repellant finish.

It is what it is supposed to be

I have numerous pieces from this manufacturer, they are all true to form and function. This is mainly a throwing axe but can certainly be used as a felling axe. It is well made and is sharp as H--l even after felling several trees. Just make sure you plan to throw it or skip this one and by another style from GB.

Perfect

The Alignment is perfect
The forging is perfect
The grain is perfect
The grind is perfect
The balance is perfect
I keep trying to find something wrong with it because I just cannot believe how perfect it is. I don't throw it, I got it for a show off/camp site ¾ axe. It can chop like a machine, it splits well to.
I roughed up the handle pretty good and carved in some deep groves to give it a sure grip.
